So I don’t see many more “hauls” in the near future as 1- I can’t snap a flatlay to save my life, and 2- after failing miserably at No-Buy-November, I must now embark upon No-Buy-2015… Okay, it was not that bad but let’s just say for the first couple months of 2015 I will be keeping somewhat a distance from the malls.
So I didn’t snap a pic of everything I got in November – so I will probably just add links here and there. I am really excited to style some of the pieces I purchased. For the most part I think I kept things fairly basic clothing wise – save the white fur vest! Other items are mostly classic pieces with just a touch of flare on track with the season’s trends. As for the candles…. well clearly I am a candle junkie! Fragrance is so much a part of my mood and expression of who I am. It sounds over-the-top, but I really am the type of person who chooses which candle light depending on my mood and which perfume to use depending on my style for the day. I find fragrance transforms a moment for me – it helps to complete the package. Whether it’s lighting a chestnut candle to emulate the atmosphere of the warmth of a wooden cabin in the dead of winter – or spritzing Chloe eau de parfum to evoke a certain femininity with a soft ladylike ensemble fragrance seals the deal.
I snagged this faux leather skirt from Zara – clearly I had my eye on it for some time as I took this photo in the fitting room a few weeks prior. I adore the top as well [it’s currently in my shopping bag]! Lighting and picture quality isn’t great – but the skirt it actually a rusted amber colour – which is a bit different from the common saddle brown coloured leather.
So I discovered Female Department from an Ottawa Stylist I follow on Instagram – she has showcased some great pieces by them, they are also based in Montreal so I decided to check them out. I was really pleased with the variety and visible craftsmanship of the pieces they carry. I was a bit disappointed the collared blouse didn’t fit – the proportions were way off- I’ll have to see if it fits anyone I know! As for the laser-cut tee I am thinking to wear a gold or silver silk cami underneath – I think it will add some flare to an otherwise depressing January… We’ll see…
